Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has. –Margaret Mead
Southwest Alternate Media Project (SWAMP) was founded by Dominique de Menil in 1977, in collaboration with filmmaker and media activist, James Blue, based upon the idea that “volunteerism” is the soul of artistic, institutional progress.
Our programs are operated primarily through your volunteer efforts, and we also employ full-time and part-time staff, as needed for our ongoing programs.
General Manager | Cybil Pallugna-Saenz
Education & Outreach Coordinator | Anna Julia
We are currently looking for a Social Media Intern to assist us with engaging our audience at SWAMP events, posts leading up to events and other relative information about SWAMP and our mission. The SM Intern would also be responsible for updating the website, photography at events and some graphic design work. While this is not a paid position, others in this role have gone on to work in film-related jobs in Houston. We are connected and believe in supporting our interns with opportunities for skill-building and growth.
